NLPC Vision

  • Celebrating Life in Christ (Worship)
  • Cultivating Growth in Christ (Discipleship and Education)
  • Communicating Christ to the Culture (Evangelism)

Values

We are committed to all of the Old and New Testament Scriptures as our ultimate authority, believing them to be God-breathed and useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, and secondarily but importantly, to the historic Westminster Confession of Faith and the Westminster Larger and Shorter Catechisms as faithful summaries and formulations of the truth of Scripture.

We are committed to worship focused on glorifying God through Christ, with a richness and clarity that both edifies believers of all generations and clearly and comprehensibly communicates the gospel of Jesus Christ to those in doubt or disbelief.

We are committed to individual and corporate prayer.

We are committed to evangelistic ministries that lovingly and boldly point all with whom we have contact to Jesus, to the Gospel, to a new life in Christ, and to worship with God’s people at New Life.

We are committed to discipleship ministries that foster an intimate and meaningful relationship with and dependence on Jesus Christ; that encourage all believers to be imitators of Christ, in character, word, and deed; and that equip first husbands and then all believers to be faithful spiritual leaders in the home, in the church, and in the mission field.

We are committed to supporting biblical ministries of mercy and compassion for the widow, the single mother, the orphan, the homeless, the sick, the imprisoned, and the downtrodden.

We are committed to a “prophetic’ ministry of the Word, one that challenges the assumptions and idols of our culture and our hearts, both within and without the church.

We are committed to the biblical concept of the “priesthood of all believers” and, therefore, to the freedom of every member to minister through their respective spiritual gifts under the authority and loving discipline of the elders.

We are committed to obliterating the false distinction our culture draws between the sacred and the secular, and, therefore, to calling our people (i) to reflect in a Christ-centered way about every aspect of their lives, (ii) to make the gospel attractive by working with excellence in their respective callings in business, school, the arts, government and academia, and (iii) to collaborate and network with other Christians in the marketplace. We are committed to the building up of all believers at New Life, to aiding the churches of our Presbytery, to supporting the establishment of a large number of new PCA congregations in Southern California, and to actively cooperating with local believers outside our denomination in ministries whose goals and values we can support.
